I typed out a minor opus talking about how elusive block cap was being for me and then the thunderstorm currently leveling the Boston area to ground decided to knock the power out from my building. Lost to history now. I really don’t know why I type things into my email client here. No, wait, I do. Makes it look like work.
But, um, yes. The one thing that wasn’t eaten by the power flash was the update to the CTC spreadsheet. It’s now up to version 1.3.3, with the additional gain of a function that converts overflow mastery (more than needed to reach block cap) to stamina at a rate of 1:1.5 mastery to stamina.
The stamina number is then converted out to hitpoints with all the requisite bonuses: Touched by the Light, Plate Specialization, and Kings/Mark if selected in the buffs section previously.
Suffice it say when I finally hit the blockcap after the first raid night next week, that number will be deliciously pertinent as I start regemming mastery to stamina.
I’ll try to take another crack at the post — under better weather — on Monday.
Is this the thinking? Gem stamina post-block cap? I haven’t been consuming Maintankadin as much as I’d like lately, and haven’t found an answer yet. I would have thought pushing for more dodge or parry would be the better choice. Though I guess you can do that with secondaries and gem for stamina, since you can’t really stack it any other way. Interesting. Requires more thought.
I would assume avoidance over stamina anymore. Would be interesting since it would be a more complex equation. You would have to figure how over block cap you are and how much you would get from the dodge/parry gems and then remove that much mastery from the gear.
could be another CTC spreadsheet update? ;)
There is no point gemming into stamina at this point. All the extra stam will come with the gear.
You need to push more avoidance(dodge parry)with the unwanted mastery.
I personally use dps gear for farm bosses, since its fun :)
Can someone please help me with this. For the last section of this spreadsheet, it gives a total CTC coverage for your character. For my pally (Nigheve ; Lightning’s Blade) I have 14.13% dodge; 14.68% parry; and 60.89% block. When I add this up on my own, to see my total CTC, I get: 14.13+14.68+60.89+5=94.7. But when i enter these into the spreadsheet, v1.3.3, section 5 tells me I have 100.40% grand total CTC. I have nothing in place for the buffs, nothing in the item section, its all 0′s except my dodge, parry and block. Can someone tell me where I’m wrong? or maybe the spreadsheet is adding something wrong? Please help. Thanks.
When you put in your dodge and parry at the beginning, I think you put in the post-DR numbers with the base added. Go to your armory page, mouse over the dodge and parry numbers and a tooltip will pop-up saying “x rating adds y% chance”. You want to plug in that y number.
You and that damn block cap…you know when you get killed everyone will give you crap because you are block capped again, don’t you?
Oh the raids will be fun
Considering you’re the one in charge of keeping me alive I think the deck might be stacked against me a tad.
Keep reading up on how to heal Baleroc, champ. :P
Reminder…how many times did you die when my team was healing you? Far less than the others
Also do you notice how much more you die compared to the other tanks? Just saying…
It’s Baleroc, what percent of my survivability do you think just MIGHT be your issue?
I will reply on that….100% if the tank has used AD and LoH
muhahaha! its always a healer fault!!!
Thank you!
