New layout warning

I’m going to be monkeying around a bit. If you see the layout suddenly change and look terrible, just bear with me, that means I’m actively tinkering with it. I’ll be switching back to the tried and true one once I run out of steam chopping up CSS. New layout won’t go up permanently until it’s done.

Edit: Alright, well, I’ve decided I’m happy enough with my progress that I’m going to leave what I have up. I still have a lot more to do, of course, but this should hold pretty well for now. For example: comments are now threaded, hurray.

My to-do list:

Find a good font for posts
Change post title font
New color for the right sidebar
Add some better things on the sidebar like “greatest hits” and rss/etc links.
Change links color
New background color
Copy blockquote design from old layout
Somehow get comment avatar images to float left
Other things I can’t think of

I’ll take any other suggestions as well. I’m perfectly open to many design tweaks.

I finally got off my kiester and managed to write a Tanking 101 guide. I have that sitting on the bar at the top now. Better late than never, right?

Also, I’m flying out for a work trip in Orlando tomorrow. That means that posting next week will be garbage, unfortunately. Unlike last time, I won’t make any grandiose plans of having posts queued up to out over the week. However, one promise I made last time that I will keep this time around is I will be tweeting nonstop out of complete and utter boredom.

I have a Wordpress app on my phone, so I’m going to attempt to microblog. Alas, no walls of texts about this or that raid, because–double alas–I will not be raiding. All in all, I’ll do something to keep this place interesting while I’m gone.

Pardon the IRL post…

So I had jury duty this morning, showed up bright an early, waited in the assembly room, etc, etc. I’m probably in the .1% of Americans that actually wants to serve on a jury, and in the years since I turned 18, I’ve eagerly watched my mailbox for a summons.

Well, finally the day came and I am happy to announce that I have been selected to serve in the jury of a civil case. We already had opening statements today and Monday/Tuesday are the scheduled continuations of the trial.

My blogging is going to be a tad disrupted since I usually post from lunch at work and the judge seems to frown on blogging during proceedings. I’ll have to do some late posts or have something in the can ready to auto-post that day.

I’m currently thinking of the jury as a 14-man raid and the foreperson as the tank. Let’s see if I can get them to pass me lead Monday morning, haha.

Starting tomorrow I’m heading over to the Czech Republic for a work trip, so blogging will be pretty light around here. I intend to finagle a way to post from my iPhone while sneaking wifi connections and avoiding roaming charges, so I will definitely stay in touch (Twitter will be bouncin’) but long crazy posts are probably out of the question.

Be well friends, and I’ll be back posting on my normal schedule–States-side–on the 23rd!

I did a little shuffling around in the background today, improving one page and making a new one. Specifically, I updated the Guides page with more recent BiS lists and other interesting stuff I’ve written about how to do this-or-that.

I also wrote a new page (with a new tab at the top), the Glossary, as a running list of definitions for various acronyms or arcana I drop in posts. I’ll try to be better about defining these things beforehand, but in the meantime, I think this is a suitable fallback.

Need to change a few things still:

New header image
Play with the color scheme a little more (less green)
Go back and resize images which will stretch page on old entries (ugh!)

Sorry for my posting drought this last week. I’ll be returning to a normal posting routine starting tomorrow and exploring such fascinating topics as guild drama, raid drama, and my newly acquired love for my Ret offspec.

Sorry for the lack of posting today. I honestly cannot think of anything to write about. Most of my day has been spent thinking about the awesomeness potential of tonight’s raid, assuming it goes according to plan and we get the A-team formed and in Ulduar at a good time.

In any case, I shall be posting some good stuff tomorrow.

Apologies for the light posting these last few days. I’ve been slammed at work and haven’t had much time to think about, let alone post, anything remotely interesting (hence that lame abortive April Fools “joke”).

I’ll write some stuff this weekend in advance so I can post next week. Fill up the chamber in advance, if you will.
