Anywhere you can go, I can get there faster

This post is dedicated to Falowin and his 310% mount.

Everyone knows Crusader Aura increases your speed by 20%, but what most don’t realize is the 20% boost is multiplicative rather than additive. That is, rather than taking the 20% boost and just slapping it on top of your mount speed, you multiply it in to the total movement speed number.

For example, a 280% mount makes you go 380% faster than normal run speed. Multiply the total movement speed by 1.20 (for the 20% bonus from Crusader) and you get the total movement speed with the aura up: 456%.

Contrawise, Falowin on his pretty pink 310% mount will only be going at 410% speed. If I was flying on said pretty pink mount (while wearing full t5, natch), I’d be moving at 492%.

Now imagine a pally with Aura Mastery on a 310% mount–they’d be going at 574% speed!

… I need to get me a Rusted Proto.

  • I remember the first time I ever flew with an epic flyer and it was the most amazing experience. It was just as much of a shock going to the rusted protodrake. Now every time I fly at 280 on my hunter, it feels like a ground mount.

  • I always spec into Aura Mastery when I’m Holy – but that’s usually just for Arenas and leftover from FC night. It’s fun to pop in BGs as you’re racing to the flag.

    ZOOM ZOOM!

  • Aura Mastery is nice and all, but it only lasts 10 seconds and requires you to cast then mount. With both cast times you get all of ~7 seconds of a speed boost.

  • u can cast aura mastery while mounted last i checked.

  • What Wrathy said. My alt druid has a 310 mount, and even that feels like riding around in molasses after getting used flying around on Mel.

  • This article is a pack of lies!!!!
Oh Sure, if you believe in theoretical nonsense like math and logic, I could see where you would come up with this drivel. However, we all know that Blizzard doesn’t favor the Paladin; they don’t constantly adjust and buff them as if they were Blizz’s favorite toy. So there is no way that Blizzard would make the unfair and unbelieveable mistake of having a mount that I worked for for an entire year actually go slower than one easily obtaniable by a paladin with some cash.

    My 310 mount is faster.
